CREATED Apr. 2, 2013

North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman is dead and a man and child are in the hospital after a crash Tuesday morning at Gowan Road and Decatur Boulevard.

North Las Vegas police said the crash happened at about 9:40 a.m. involving a pickup truck and a sedan.

The driver of the sedan, a 54-year-old woman, died of her injuries. The woman's grandchild, a young boy, was critically injured.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 71-year-old man, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Investigators say that the woman was apparently distracted by her cellphone before running a red light at the intersection and hitting the truck.

The intersection was shut down for several hours as detectives investigated the collision.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the woman's name once relatives have been notified.
