CREATED Mar. 31, 2013

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Astros make their debut in the American League Sunday evening in the opening game of the 2013 Major League Baseball season.

The Astros are leaving the National League Central Division, where they finished dead last, for a spot in the American League West, where they'll be teamed up with the Angels, Athletics, Mariners and Rangers.

They get their first taste of A.L. ball Sunday with a home game against intrastate rival Texas with Bud Norris getting the ball against the Rangers' Matt Harrison.

Twelve more games are slated for Monday.
