Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's a party but don't bring your own bottle.
That is the message during a special event tonight at the Fremont East District sponsored by local law enforcement, area merchants, and the Downtown 360 Project.
Many people may not know if but in the downtown area, there is a city ordinance that prohibits those on the street from having open containers of alcohol if they are not purchased from establishment on the street.
Lately, partiers have been bringing their own alcohol downtown. The problem is the amount of alcohol being consumed and the safety of those on the street and those driving when the party ends.
Friday night's event, which will start at 8 p.m., will also highlight two mid-block crosswalks in the Fremont East District that are not being utilized.
Officers will be on hand to give out fliers on city law, pedestrian safety buttons and general information about making good decisions.
In addition, the event will celebrate the soft opening of the new Park bar at Las Vegas Boulevard and East Fremont Street.
