Annual event helps local veterans get back on their feet
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The annual Veterans Stand Down is taking place today and tomorrow at Cashman Center, near downtown Las Vegas.
The purpose of the event is to help homeless veterans who are living on the streets of Las Vegas.
The list of free services include housing placement, employment and education assistance, pet supplies, medical care, showers, haircuts, computer/email stations, clothing and more.
More than 120 services providers comprised of local nonprofits, veteran service organizations, the VA Medical Center of Southern Nevada, court representatives and many more participate in the event.
In addition, staff members from the offices of the Nevada Congressional Delegation will also participate in the event to assist veterans in obtaining needed military records.
More than 400 volunteers will be helping during the two-day event.
Last year, the event helped 619 veterans.
