2 juveniles recovered, 1 pimp arrested in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two juveniles have been recovered and one pimp arrested in Las Vegas are part of a nationwide operation by the FBI targeting underage prostitution.
According to the FBI, the operation covered 76 cities across 47 FBI divisions during the last 72 hours. A total of 105 juvenile victims were recovered and 150 pimps were arrested on state and federal charges.
Operation Cross County is part of the Innocence Lost National Initiative that was established in 2003 by the FBI's Criminal Investigative Division.
To date, the FBI and its partners have recovered more than 2,700 children. The investigations and subsequent 1,350 convictions have resulted in lengthy sentences, including 10 life terms. In addition, $3.1 million in assets has been recovered.
The FBI was assisted by local, state and federal law enforcement partners and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Detroit, Mich., and San Francisco, Calif., had the most juveniles recovered and pimps arrested. Ten juveniles were recovered in Detroit and 18 pimps arrested and 12 juveniles were recovered and 17 pimps arrested in San Francisco.
