Mom accused of locking daughter up for hours at a time
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A North Las Vegas woman was arrested Tuesday after her daughter was found beaten and left alone at an apartment complex.
Police said officers were called to the apartment on 1200 West Cheyenne Avenue at about 1:45 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a 4-year-old girl locked in her bedroom. She had several injuries, both old and new, all over her body.
The child was taken to University Medical Center to be treated for her wounds.
Investigators said the girl's mother, 36-year-old Laketha Moore, left her daughter tied to a bed by her ankle several hours a day, several times a week since February.
The girl was left with little food or water and no access to a bathroom for as long as 12 hours a day, investigators said.
Evidence suggests the girl suffered multiple instances of physical abuse.
No one else lived at the apartment with Moore and her daughter.
Moore was booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on 31 felony counts of child abuse.
The child was released from the hospital to the care of Child Protective Services.
