Salary of next CCSD superintendent debated
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The search for a new superintendent is sparking debate over how much the winning candidate should make.
Superintendent Dwight Jones will leave the Clark County School District next week.
His base salary is $270,000.
School Board President Carolyn Edwards wants a review to see if the salary is nationally competitive.
Action News was told the district will collect salary numbers from the 20 largest school districts in the nation to help make a decision.
While no decision has been made, the talk of a possible salary hike is not sitting well with the teachers' union.
The union president said roughly 11,000 local teachers took pay cuts this year.
The school board may approve a deal with a national search firm by Thursday.
