Students remember fallen North Las Vegas police officer
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Every year, students at Raul Elizondo Elementary School have a special day to honor the man their school was named after.
Elizondo was a North Las Vegas police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1995.
Wednesday, officers raised a flag in his honor and talked with students about what it means to be a police officer.
Principal Keith France said the day means a lot to the kids, "One of the things we strive to do is share with the kids that police are there to help us. They're there to protect us, to be our friends."
Elizondo grew up in Henderson. He was a graduate of Basic High School and UNLV.
