CCSD projects to hire at least 1,700 teachers next year
Clark County, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County School District expects to hire 1,700 teachers for the upcoming school year.
The move will result in lower class sizes of up to two students per classroom across the community.
Adding educators to the classroom is the top priority of Superintendent Dwight D. Jones and is the result of a recent arbitration decision that saved $23 million for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year, anticipated student growth and employee attrition.
Despite a slow economy, CCSD saw an all-time enrollment of 311,429 students this year and anticipates at least 1,500 additional students next year.
Special attention will continue to be paid to the district's hard to fill positions such as math, science and special education.
