Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local couple stumbled on a burglary in progress and one person ended up getting shot. Now, the suspects are on the run.

Las Vegas police said the suspects are both women, and they're both considered armed and dangerous.

It happened Thursday morning just before 6 a.m. at a home near Charleston and North Hollywood.

"I walked out on the street when there was five cop cars, and five or six other cars out there on the street," explained Var Stott, neighbor.

Neighbors told Action News the homeowner's parents came to the house after the alarm went off and the company called them about a disturbance.

"She called the mother and the father, and they come right up, and they intercepted the people who were there burglarizing the house," said Stott.

The situation became ugly as the husband confronted the suspects.

Police said one woman went to the passenger side, grabbed a gun and shot across and out through the driver's side window, shattering the glass.

"They shot him in the wrist. I understand it's serious, but not life threatening," said Stott.

Police are now actively searching for the two suspects.

They're described as Hispanic women in their 20s; one with long black hair, the other with a muscular build.

The suspects were driving a vehicle described as a dark grey sedan, with a shattered driver's side window.

"They've already shown intent, they've used a firearm, one person was hit, so the possibility exists that it could happen again," said Officer Jose Hernandez with Metro.

If you know anything about this case or the whereabouts of the two suspects, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
