Two pedestrians struck by vehicle on Sahara, one dead
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two pedestrians were taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle Sunday evening, one has died.
It happened around 5 p.m. near Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a 2006 Nissan Titan was traveling eastbound on Sahara Avenue when it made an abrupt right turn and drove into oncoming traffic on Valley View Boulevard. The vehicle then drove up onto the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians.
Both the male and female pedestrians were transported to University Medical Center Trauma. The female pedestrian was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The male pedestrian has been identified as 39-year-old Eduardo Planton-Sanchez. He was admitted with moderate injuries.
Police told Action News the driver fled the scene, but officers were able to track him down. LVMPD says the driver failed a field sobriety test. 33-year-old Jason Manuma was arrested on DUI-death and leaving the scene of an accident.
This collision is the 22nd fatal traffic collision in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2013.
