Family of Oscar Pistorius denies murder charges
PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) -- The family of Oscar Pistorius is denying charges that the Olympic runner murdered his girlfriend.
Arnold Pistorius describes his nephew as "numb with shock" and grief over Reeva Steenkamp's death.
The model was shot and killed on Valentine's Day at Oscar Pistorius' home in the suburbs of South Africa's capital. Police are holding Pistorius pending a bail hearing next week.
Meanwhile, South African Broadcasting has aired a reality TV show starring Reeva Steenkamp. Steenkamp's family says it was the model's last wish for them to watch the show. A cousin says Steenkamp was proud of being in "Tropika Island of Treasure." The show was filmed in Jamaica last year.
Pistorius' agent says he has begun calling off races for the Olympic sprinter since he was charged in Steenkamp's death. Pistorius was to have run a rematch with fellow double-amputee Alan Oliveira to promote the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics on Copacabana beach at the end of March.
