Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Passengers were stranded in Las Vegas overnight after a British Airways plane made an emergency landing.
Crew members noticed fumes in the plane after the flight left LAX bound for London.
Those fumes prompted the pilot to divert the plane to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
Medics checked the pilots after landing. Ambulances were seen leaving the airport shortly after, but officials said no injuries were reported.
British Airways officials said claims that smoke caused the odor were false.
"Safety is always our top priority and as a precaution, the captain decided to divert our Los Angeles to London service into Las Vegas following a suspected technical problem," a spokesperson for the airline said.
Some passengers were frustrated after landing, complaining that they were not informed of the flight status and upset about the inconvenience.
Airline officials said passengers were provided hotels and will be re-booked onto alternate flights out of Las Vegas "as soon as possible."
