Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Is the Liberace Museum planning to reopen in downtown Las Vegas?

Indeed it is, according to John Katsilometes' "The Kats Report" in the Las Vegas Weekly.

Katsilometes is reporting that the chairman of the Liberace Foundation has delivered a memorandum of understanding to the property manager for Neonopolis. The target date for the musuem to open is January 2014.

The original Liberace Museum, which was located on East Tropicana Avenue, closed in October of 2010. At the time, about two dozen people stood outside the museum to protest the closing.

The original museum featured jewelry, pianos, garish gowns and other artifacts.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the museum once rivaled the Hoover Dam as one of the most popular off-Strip attractions, drawing 450,000 per year.
