Special Olympics hosts "Ultimate Challenge" for students
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Special needs elementary students throughout the Clark County School District got a chance to play ball Wednesday.
Special Olympics hosted its annual "Ultimate Challenge" at Fertitta Middle School.
100 special education athletes district-wide participated in the winter-themed event.
Organizers said these activities are important for students with diverse abilities.
"Often times, they are on campuses in their neighborhoods but they are not given the opportunities that we are able to give them here. So it's a very important experience that they are able to participate," said Michelle Elliott.
The Caesars Foundation was also on hand Wednesday.
The organization presented a $25,000 check to Special Olympics Nevada.
