Local gun shop owners not worried about proposal to tighten gun laws

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- President Obama is expected to outline his proposal to tighten gun laws today and possibly issue several executive orders.

Local gun enthusiasts say they are not worried about the restrictions in Nevada but they are still shopping for firearms because of the debate.

Local gun shops say that their business has never been better and they are having a hard time keeping up with the demand.

On Tuesday, lawmakers in New York approved a bill that is now considered to be the toughest regulations on gun ownership in the nation.

The National Rifle Association isn't waiting on the president's announcement to go on attack.

The powerful gun lobby launched a preemptive strike, releasing a provocative video attacking the president's character.

The video points out that the president's children have armed protection in school and asks why he is skeptical about putting armed security in schools.

President Obama will have to overcome NRA's opposition and convince Congress to pass his measures.

Gun rights advocates are even bringing up the possibility of impeaching President Obama if gun control measures go too far.

The largest gun show in the world opened Tuesday in Las Vegas.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation's 35th annual SHOT Show attracts thousands of vendors and more than 60,000 attendees.

The president of NSSF, which is based in the same town as the deadly shooting that killed more than 20 elementary school children, released a statement on Tuesday that the state of the gun industry is "misunderstood."
