2 arrested in major grow house bust in west Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police busted a marijuana grow house Wednesday night near West Desert Inn and South Fort Apache roads in southwest Las Vegas.
Narcotics detectives served a warrant on the house in the 3300 block of Trickling Stream Circle at about 5:30 p.m. after receiving complaints from neighbors about a smell coming from the residence.
Two people, a man and a woman in their 40s, were arrested as they attempted to leave the residence but Las Vegas police have not said what the charges the pair may face.
A decontamination team and a robot had to be sent into the house after officers encountered an irritant that caused coughing and breathing problems.
The irritant was determined not to be chemical or biological and officers were able to continue.
Once inside, officers found about 1,000 plants in the house in the 3,500-square-foot home.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, no neighbors were in danger and the two officers that went into the home and encountered the irritant did not suffer any lingering effects.
A lieutenant with LVMPD said it was one of the most extensive grow houses that he has ever seen.
This was LVMPD's first grow house bust of 2013.
