1 dead in highway crash in Gardnerville
GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) -- The Nevada Highway Patrol says one person was killed and another injured in a late-night crash on U.S. 395 in Gardnerville.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. Monday when a car driven by a 31-year-old Carson City resident pulled out of the driveway to the 7-Eleven Store at Riverview Drive. Investigators say the driver attempted to cross the southbound lane of the highway to head north and was struck by an SUV.
The driver of the car was taken to the nearby Carson Valley Medical Center where he died. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives. A female passenger was flown to a Reno hospital and released Tuesday.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Authorities say alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
