Police: 2 people dead after shooting at apartment complex

CREATED Jan. 9, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two people are dead, after a shooting at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Harmon Avenue, near Paradise Road. Police say  the gunman is still on the loose.

A third person was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Las Vegas police are searching for three suspects who they believe committed the crime together at the Harbor Island Apartments, just behind the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Detectives say the shootings happened inside one of the apartments. Bullets also pierced through the wall into the apartment next door, but no one there was injured.

Action News spoke with a single mom who lives nearby. She's planning on moving out of the area, because of the bad things that have been happening.

"There are lots of drugs and prostitution," says Christine Heath. "Police are over there a lot. I don't want my son around that. It's not a good situation at all, that's why we're moving."

Police aren't calling it a robbery, but are investigating whether it could have been an attempted robbery.
