Puppies, Christmas toys lost in Valley house fire
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- After a fire destroys their home, a local man is forced to explain to his 5-year-old son his clothes, pets and brand new Christmas presents are all gone.
“What can you tell a 5-year-old kid that his dog's dead and everything he has is gone?” said Paul King, who watched as his entire life went up in smoke early Sunday morning.
Dense plumes of white smoke filled could be seen from blocks away from the home, located on melody lane near Decatur and Vegas Drive.
Inside the house the smoke was so thick, the king family could barely make their way out.
Once outside, they watched as fire crews attempted to control the blaze, but panic sets in once they realized the magnitude of what's lost.
“My little one is screaming, ‘My dogs are inside.’ I couldn't get to them. One of my dogs just had puppies and they're deceased. I couldn’t get them out,” King said.
The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada was on hand providing temporary services.
The King family tells us they're hoping to plan a fundraiser or open an account for donations and as soon as they get that information to us, we'll be sure to put it on our website.
