Man arrested on arson charges after fire at duplex Monday night
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A man has been charged with arson after a fire severely damaged a duplex in the 6700 block of Oak Valley Drive, near Rainbow Boulevard and West Spring Valley Parkway, on Christmas Eve.
The Clark County Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 10:03 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a single-story, multi-family duplex on fire with heavy smoke.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading but one half of the duplex was severely damaged.
An adult male, who was an occupant of the duplex, was treated for minor injuries. He was then arrested and charged with arson.
The damage is estimated at $50,000. Three other occupants of the duplex were not at home at the time of the fire.
Eight units and 24 personnel from the fire department responded to the incident.
No injuries to firefighters were reported.
The suspected arsonist was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
