28th person takes plea in Las Vegas HOA fraud case

CREATED Dec 14, 2012

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A 40-year-old former construction company manager now living in Illinois has become the 28th person to take a plea deal in an ongoing federal probe of southern Nevada homeowner associations steering business to favored attorneys and businesses.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Dax Louderman pleaded guilty Friday to two tax evasion charges in a construction defect scheme from August 2008 to May 2009.

Louderman's lawyer, Peter Christiansen, didn't immediately respond to a message from The Associated Press.

The Review-Journal says Louderman acknowledged failing to report more than $495,000 on his 2008 and 2009 tax returns.

The money was allegedly stolen from his former company, Alpha 1 Construction, and the Stone Canyon Homeowners Association in Henderson.

Louderman has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in the sweeping HOA investigation.
