Zappos expects record-breaking Cyber Monday
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Locally-based online retailer Zappos is expecting a record-breaking Cyber Monday.
Action News stopped by Zappos headquarters on Monday, where customer service agents were staying busy with phone calls.
"It's definitely a big day," said Rob Siefker, director of customer loyalty for Zappos. "We'll see how it pans out for the rest of the holidays, but it's definitely one of our bigger days for sales. We have a clearance section for Cyber Monday on the website and in the contact center it's one of the busiest days of the year."
A company spokesperson said Zappos is 99 percent sure they'll break their all-time single-day net sales record on Cyber Monday.
Nationwide, Americans are expected to spend about $1.5 billion online on Monday. According to the National Retail Federation, 85 percent of online retailers will offer special promotions. That's expected to translate to a growth in retail sales over last holiday season.
Experts remind online shoppers to use caution when making purchases on websites. By using a credit card instead of a debit card, checking your statements and never giving out social security numbers or passwords, you can protect yourself against the threat of cyber crime.
