Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- While most people want to be home with their families this Thanksgiving, some can't because it's just physically hard to travel. But on Thanksgiving day, American Medical Response Transportation Services helped families reunite for the holiday.
"Usually when we go to someone's house it's usually for a bad reason," said Nathan Sorensen with AMR. "It's nice to be able to return something to the community, and be abel to affect their lives in a positive manner."
AMR provides free transportation to those in need as part of their "Home for the Holidays" program. Working with nursing homes in the area, they pick ten senior citizens and donates stretcher and wheelchair service to them as they drop them off at their families' homes.
Those families say their hearts are filled with gratitude.
"I really appreciate them working today," said Elizabeth Cray, whose mother was brought home for the holiday. "I hope they know when they're here and when they leave how much I appreciate them, because I've tried to tell them that and to show them that. They are angels. My mother is surrounded by many angels."
Those senior citizens are picked up later in the day and brought back to their nursing homes.
"Home for the Holidays" will continue this 10-year tradition on Christmas day.
