Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 78-year-old woman is dead and an 83-year-old man is severely injured after being struck by a car around 7:30 p.m. Friday in downtown Las Vegas.
The man and woman were walking across 13th Street, near Bridger Avenue, when they hit by a 2006 Hyundai Electra driven by 62-year-old Sir Seltz of North Las Vegas.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, identified as Ernestro Castro of Las Vegas, was transported in critical condition to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit.
Neighbors in the area said the man and woman were married and they often walked in the area.
The pedestrians were 66 feet north of the nearest crosswalk at the time of the incident. The collision is still under investigation and it's not known if any charges will be filed.
Police did say the driver was not speeding and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
