CREATED Nov. 3, 2012

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Local military service members were honored with a Veterans Day Ceremony.

The City of Henderson held it annual ceremony Saturday afternoon at the Henderson Events Plaza Amphitheater, which is located near the Veterans Memorial Wall.

The wall was dedicated in 1994 and local veterans are honored there every year.

Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen was there, along with the Henderson City Council and ROTC members.

Mayor Hafen told Action News he believes this is a great time to pay respect to those who've passed, but also those who are currently serving and the veterans in our armed forces.

Colonel Barry Cornish, commander with the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, was the keynote speaker at Saturday's event.

Veterans Day 2012 is Monday, Nov. 12.
