Judge accused of fraud turns himself in
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local judge accused of fraud and conspiracy turned himself in on Thursday.
Steven Jones surrendered to the U.S. Marshals Service Thursday morning, according to a U.S. Department of Justice spokesperson. Jones is scheduled to have an initial hearing at 3 p.m. in federal court.
Jones, 54, and five others are accused of running an investment fraud scheme.
The indictment filed alleges that the group had individuals loan them money under the guise they would be repaid quickly with high interest rates.
Victims were solicited by mail, telephone and over the Internet and at least 10 bank accounts were used in the commission of the fraud, according to the indictment.
The case is being investigated by the FBI.
