Icing Smiles & local firefighters help 6-year-old boy

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A group of Las Vegans recently used their special gifts to make Las Vegas a better place to live for one little valley boy.

Jace Majerus is a typical kid. He loves Batman and Firemen."I want to be a fireman when I grow up."

Clark County Firefighters recently surprised Jace on his birthday, because this six-year-old boy battles a life threatening disease. Water collects on his brain.  The result?  Excruciating headaches for most of his life.

In addition to the firefighters, Jace enjoyed a huge, beatiful Batman cake courtesy of Icing Smiles. The nationwide group dispatches so called "sugar angels" to create cakes of art for kids like Jace. Sugar artist Michelle Curran wore the halo for Jace's project.

Michelle says, "Everyone deserves a dream cake. And I believe in giving back to the community. You just never know how much time someone has. So it really touches my heart to be able to provide one of these cakes."

Michelle is the one who asked the CCFD to come. So that Jace could enjoy both of his favorite things: Batman on his cake and firefighters at his front door.

When she's not making cakes for Icing Smiles, Michelle runs a business called Mitchies Munchies.  She spent 16 hours making Jace's batman cake perfect.
