The Las Vegas Balloon Festival is this Friday through Sunday at Southern Hills Hospital, and admission is free. It begins at sunrise and ends after sunset each day.
Hot air balloon rides will be offered, with tethered rides costing $10 and full flights going for $250. There will also be a carnival, food trucks and live entertainment.
The festival benefits Friends of Metro Search and Rescue.
The nonprofit organization is made up of more than 50 unpaid volunteers, on call 24 hours a day to help Metro during search and rescue operations.
The volunteers respond to things like missing hikers, people stranded during flash floods and even standoff situations.
