Battle of the Bras raising money for American Cancer Society

CREATED Oct. 25, 2012

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Every October, the women and men of Caesars Entertainment take to the catwalk showing off bras.

Believe it or not, the spectacle makes Las Vegas a better place to live.

Maribel Aguirre remembers the days right after her double mastectomy when she couldn't hug her children. Still, she fought.

Maribel says, "Don't ever say am I going to die. No. I'm going to beat this. This is just a disease that's not going to take over my life and cancer didn't."

Maribel and her colleagues at Caesars Entertainment vote on their favorite bras, decorated by employees. They also have the option to donate to the American Cancer Society when they vote.

Bras are also decorated by Strip headliners and local media personalities. Last year, the Battle of the Bras event raised $10,000.

Maribel says the event is just what she needs. "You've got to make fun of it. Because if you cry all the time it makes you weak. With this disease, you have to be strong."

The Battle of the Bras goes down inside Planet Hollywood on Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
