Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Locals were out this weekend in Henderson to show their support for a soldier who bravely served our country.

The third annual "One Hero At A Time" celebration was held Saturday at the Jokers Wild Casino in Henderson.

The crowd gathered to honor Sergeant Thomas "Trey" Humphrey of Henderson. The former marine is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He lost his right leg while fighting in Afghanistan.

Other veterans were also at Saturday's event and talked about the importance of community support.

"This is a great deal for all of us. It shows there are a lot of people out there that care and really do want to help all of us out, not just me, but all wounded guys. And from every state, everybody that comes to help, it helps us out a lot," said Army Specialist Tim Hall.
