Volunteers take part in Summerlin desert cleanup

CREATED Oct. 20, 2012

Summerlin, NV (KTNV) -- Valley residents gathered in Summerlin Saturday to beautify the desert.

A cleanup was held as part of "Make a Difference Day." Nearly a dozen community projects are scheduled throughout the Valley, attracting nearly 500 volunteers.

Saturday's cleanup covered 200 acres of land.

"It's my understanding, in the past, they had 314 tons of trash taken out of just this area alone, so obviously these cleanups are much needed and I'm just thrilled to be a part of it," said Judy Myers, volunteer.
