Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- This weekend's third annual One Hero at a Time celebration at Jokers Wild Casino in Henderson will benefit a Henderson resident, veteran and Purple Heart recipient.

Sgt. Thomas "Trey" Humphrey III is a former United States Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Humphrey suffered multiple injuries, including the loss of his right leg below the knee, in Sangin, Afghanistan when he stepped on a mine on Nov. 9, 2010.

Humphrey has had 21 surgeries since the incident and has yet to fully recover from his injuries.

The event will begin at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, and end at 10 p.m.

The celebration will feature popular local bands such as 'Nuff Said, Shovel, Updog, 333, Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns and others.

There will also be a special performance by Bret Lucich of his hit song "One Hero at a Time."

Food, beverage and raffles will be offered and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Humphrey and his family.

The entry fee to the event is a suggested donation of $20. All entry fees will be donated to Humphrey.

Prior to the celebration, a benefit motorcycle ride will begin at 8 a.m.

Donations for Humphrey are also being accepted online.
