Accused drug-dealing doctor arrested again
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local doctor stripped of his license for allegedly selling oxycodone was re-arrested on Thursday.
Dr. Vinay Bararia was re-arrested Thursday on a pretrial release violation, A U.S. Department of Justice spokesperson said.
Dr. Bararia used to work as co-chair of medicine at Centennial Hills Hospial and treated patients at a private practice, Nevada Medical Associates on North Tenaya.
Dr. Bararia was first arrested in the parking lot of Centennial Hills Hospital on March 1, where authorities believe he conducted most of his illegal operation. Police said they seized more than 2,000 oxycodone pills and $3,000 cash from the doctor's car during the arrest.
Bararia was arrested again in May after the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners said he ordered controlled substances 11 more times at the Centennial Hills hospital.
He was indicted in June by a federal grand jury.
It's unclear what Bararia did to violate his pretrial release conditions.
