Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It could change the way your kid gets to school; the RTC and CCSD have teamed up to get more students using the public bus system.
The "Ride On" Partnership is an outreach program to educate and to encourage high school students attending magnet schools and technical academies to use public transit as an additional choice option.
The Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts was selected as the pilot program's first school because of its proximity to several RTC bus routes and the RTC main hub.
Students of the Las Vegas Academy and their family members are eligible to receive a free round trip bus fare for the next month.
The RTC plans on taking the program to other schools soon. If public transportation becomes popular among students, the RTC says it may accommodate bus routes and stops to service busy campuses in the future.
