Summerlin woman attacked by masked gunman inside her garage

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are looking for a man who they say tried to attack a Summerlin woman inside her garage while wearing a "Scream" mask.

It happened in the 10000 block of Burensburg, near Sahara and Hualapai, just after 5 a.m. Monday.

The woman told police she was getting into her car to leave for work when a man wearing a Halloween mask like the one from the movie "Scream" entered her garage and tried to force his way into her car.

The woman told police she put her car in reverse and sped away to call 911 as the suspect fired a shot into her vehicle.

The woman was not hurt, but police fear the attack was not random.

"Of course, we're going to be concerned that somebody would apparently know what time she was leaving and be masked and prepared to attack her," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Officer Marcus Martin said.

The masked gunman got away and police are asking for help from the public to find him.

So far, police don't have a description of him or the vehicle he may have been driving. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
