Former NFL player Larry Johnson arrested in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Former NFL player Larry Johnson was arrested in Las Vegas Friday after police say he attacked and attempted to strangle his ex-girlfriend.
Authorities say Johnson met his ex and her friends on Thursday night for drinks. The couple eventually left the group and went back to Johnson's room at the Bellagio, where they began fighting.
That's when the victim told police Johnson began to beat her, throw her around and put his hands around her neck.
"If you are going to kill me, squeeze harder and just do it," the victim told Johnson, according to his arrest report.
After that, Johnson's ex said she blacked out.
The couple previously dated for four years.
Early Friday morning, hotel security detained Johnson and contacted police. Responding officers interviewed the victim, who had multiple visible facial injuries and bruising on her neck.
Johnson was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on $15,000 bail.
He's charged with battery domestic violence and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
Johnson was a running back for several NFL teams from 2003 through 2011, including the Kansas City Chiefs and most recently the Miami Dophins.
