US Housing Sec Donovan visits Vegas on Monday
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development will be in Las Vegas on Monday to discuss programs for struggling homeowners and the Nevada housing market.
Secretary Shaun Donovan will address the Asian American Real Estate Association Monday morning at their national convention, which is being held at the Bellagio hotel-casino.
A statement from HUD says Donovan will speak about refinancing options and programs for homeowners in Las Vegas and other areas hit by the housing crisis.
A news conference is to follow at 10:30 a.m. to discuss trends in Nevada's housing market.
Nevada had the worst foreclosure rate nationally for four consecutive years before dropping in recent months behind Georgia and Arizona.
