Suspect killed by U.S. Marshal was a fugitive out of Arizona

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The city of North Las Vegas has released additional details about the officer-involved shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon near Cheyenne Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The report reveals details about the man that was shot, including that he was wanted in connection with at least six different burglaries since July 2012. 

One of those involved an attack on an elderly man The man suffered life-threatening head injuries when the suspect pistol-whipped him during a home invasion.

26-year-old Tabitha Alvarez, also of Tucson, has been named as the driver of the vehicle that the wanted suspect was in. Another passenger was 22-year-old Meggan Lecroy.

When fugitive task force personnel attempted to stop the car on Wednesday afternoon, Alvarez sped away. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Cheyenne and Martin Luther King, it struck a car that was stopped.

The car attempted to take off again but was blocked by a task force vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle exited and tried to run away. The two women were immediately taken into custody.

The fugitive suspect, who was armed with a handgun, attempted to escape capture by running to a business under construction. He was confronted by an officer attempting to stop his escape and was ultimately shot during that encounter.

Alvarez was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail for driver disobeying a peace officer; obstructing a peace officer; failure to possess certificate of registration; duty to stop at scene of accident; failure to obey traffic-control devices; failure to maintain lane; no proof of insurance; and speeding.

Lecroy was arrested and booked on a charge of obstructing a peace officer.

The suspects identify and official cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner.
