Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A designated driver program that has helped make Las Vegas a safer place to live may not be able to help keep drunk drivers off the roads this holiday season.
Designated Drivers Incorporated has sponsored a 'Home for the Holidays' program offering free rides home to anyone who had too much to drink.
"Our Home for the Holidays program has driven thousands of people home during Christmas and New Year's," said Billie Smith, president of Designated Drivers Inc.
Due to lack of funding, the program is on life support. Without help from the public through donations, they won't be in a position to offer free rides this year.
"Considering the recent tragedy at the bus stop it just shows how vital our program is," Smith said.
Designated Drivers Inc. has a staff of more than 50 drivers and serves the entire Las Vegas area 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
