LAS VEGAS (AP) -- President Barack Obama is planning to focus on campaign economic policies during a quick visit to Las Vegas.

The president will be making his eighth visit this year to Nevada he speaks Wednesday to a campaign audience at a convention hall just north of downtown Las Vegas.

His campaign says Obama will compare his goals to build economic security for the middle class with what he characterizes as "top-down" GOP policies that he blames for the Great Recession.

Obama's visit comes one day after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney addressed a National Guard Association convention in Reno.

Both candidates are wooing voters in a presidential battleground state that Obama won in 2008.

With six electoral votes at stake, both candidates are also spending millions of dollars advertising in Nevada.
