Henderson Police arrest two additional men linked to kidnapping
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Henderson Police have arrested two more suspects tied to the kidnapping of 17-year-old Melissa Duran, who was kidnapped from her home on Aug. 31 and was located during the early hours of Sept. 1.
Henderson Police reports they tracked down and arrested the fourth suspect in Vallejo, California late Saturday night. Vallejo Police detectives in the Crime Suppression Unit and federal Safe Streets Task force found Jose Sanchez-Perez in an apartment building.
Sanchez-Perez was arrested on a federal unlawful flight to avoid a prosecution warrant. He is being held without bail in the Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility until he appears for an extradition hearing.
Henderson Police also arrested Mariano Sanchez-Sanchez in Las Vegas on Wednesday. He is being held at the Henderson Detention Center on kidnapping and extortion charges. Sanchez-Sanchez, 26, was arrested after he was seen in a car on Bruce Street at Charleston Boulevard.
“I would like to express my appreciation to the Vallejo Police Department and the FBI for their assistance in finding the suspect in California,” Chief Patrick Moers said. “This case did not end with the rescue of 17-year-old Melissa Duran last weekend. Most folks never see or even hear about the countless hours Henderson Police detectives put in to finding those responsible for heinous crimes.”
Special Agents from Homeland Security Investigations also assisted in locating the suspects.
Detectives are still investigating the incident, but have found that Sanchez-Perez worked for Melissa’s father’s landscaping business for about four years and had been fired about four months ago.
Sanchez-Perez also faces kidnapping and extortion charges when he is returned to Henderson.
Mariano Sanchez-Sanchez has an initial appearance scheduled in Henderson Justice Court on Monday at 9 a.m.
