Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Nearly 800,000 children go missing each year in the United States.
An event Saturday, aimed to prevent kids in Southern Nevada from becoming part of that alarming statistic.
The event was held at the Friendly Ford Dealership on Decatur Boulevard to mark National Child Safety Day.
It was designed to provide parents with the tools they need, if their child ever goes missing. Those tools included FBI fingerprinting and DNA identification kits, as well as a digital photo.
National Child Safety Day was created in part by John Walsh, the host of America's Most Wanted and one of the nation's leading child advocates.
