1 dead, 5 injured after crash involving ambulance
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 63-year-old North Las Vegas resident is dead and 5 other people are injured after a crash involving an ambulance on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. at Decatur and Craig in northeast Las Vegas.
Police say witnesses indicated the ambulance was driving through the intersection with lights and sirens active when a Nissan Frontier entered the intersection on a green light, striking the ambulance.
The ambulance -- which was taking a woman to the hospital -- rolled over on its left side.
That woman later died at Mountain View Hospital. It's unclear whether she died as a result of the crash or because of her pre-existing medical condition. Police say she was a 63-year-old North Las Vegas resident.
A North Las Vegas firefighter,emergency medical technician and two MedicWest personnel who were in the ambulance at the time of the crash were all taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck involved was also taken to UMC with minor injuries.
The intersection was shut down for several hours.
