DUI checkpoint planned for Friday in SW Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police are planning a DUI checkpoint for this Friday in the southwest Las Vegas area.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Deptartment is in charge of the checkpoint, sponsored by the Joining Forces grant.
The goal of the checkpoint is to identify drug and alcohol-impaired drivers. Police say they'll be keeping an eye out for young drivers and older drivers.
Police didn't specify the exact location of the event, but said there have been 61 events involving impaired drivers in the area of the checkpoint so far this year.
The checkpoint will take place from Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. until Saturday, Sept. 1 at 3 a.m.
