Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Home warranty companies are supposed to give you peace of mind when something breaks in your house. But for one Valley woman, it caused even more frustration so that's when she called Contact 13's Call for Action for help.
"It was 95 degrees in here," explained Lily Vandenbosch.
Senior citizen Lily Vandenbosch said fans weren't helping much to bring the temperature down inside her house. The air conditioning stopped working last month so she called her home warranty company hoping for a quick repair. But that wasn't the case.
"Seven times they came out here from July 20 to August 10," explained Lily.
The heat inside her house became almost unbearable for her and Peaches, her Shih Tzu. Lily says first the warranty company changed the compressor but they ended up putting in the wrong size. She says she tried to tell the repair man that.
"He said that's all you're going to get out of it," said Lily.
Then Lily says her air conditioning wouldn't turn off. She tried to get them to come back out but they wouldn't. So the next phone call she made was to Call for Action.
"When I was telling him what was going on, he said I will get on this right now and within two hours the repair company was out here," said Lily.
Almost two weeks after she first called and with her air conditioning finally working right, Lily says she was hesitant to call Action News at first. But now she can't help but tell others about her experience.
"Channel 13 cares about its residents and if you have any problems out there, by all means don't wait as long as I did, call Channel 13," said Lily.
So here's the Contact 13 bottomline. When you sign up for warranty coverage, know what's covered and what's not. That's what helped Lily understand what costs she is responsible for.
