Community comes together to honor teen killed in flooded wash
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Hundreds of people gathered at Green Valley High School Saturday night to honor the life of William Mootz.
William went missing Wednesday after falling into the Pittman Wash. After days of searching by volunteers his body was found in a wetland near Sam Boyd Stadium.
At the vigil Saturday night Green Valley High's principal awarded the Mootz family with a diploma in William's name. He was named the first graduate of the 2013 school year.
His family said the large showing of support at the vigil and throughout the week is a testimony of the unity and love found in this community.
Donations to help the family are still being collected. Any excess funds will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America which played a big role in this past weeks volunteer search and recovery.
