Rikki Cheese returning to Channel 13 anchor desk
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Rikki Cheese, a Las Vegas native and a longtime newscaster, is returning to the anchor desk at Channel 13.
She will be co-anchoring the weekday 3:30 p.m. newscast with Steve Wolford.
“Rikki’s knowledge of Las Vegas is second to none. It was an easy decision to make,” said Karin Movesian, news director for KTNV-TV Channel 13 Action News.
Cheese attended Rancho and Clark High Schools. She went on to get her degree in Broadcasting from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Her first job was at KLVX. As she puts it, she’s done it all, “…from running cables to producing and hosting talk shows and producing and anchoring newscasts.”
After jobs in Dallas and Seattle, she returned to Las Vegas. Rikki has been with Channel 13 since 2003 reporting on the town she loves.
“I’m so blessed to be able to serve my family and friends in my hometown as a member of the Action News Team. Like many desert rats (kids who grew up in Vegas), I left briefly looking for greener pastures but I quickly realized there’s no place like home.”
Jim Prather, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Journal Broadcast Group and KTNV-TV, said: “Having Rikki on board is a huge positive for KTNV. As a local, she embraces our mission of TOGETHER, MAKING LAS VEGAS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE.”
“Together, we're not only making Las Vegas a better place to live, but we're also spreading that message worldwide, thanks to all of the millions of people who visit our Valley every year,” Ms. Cheese said.
Cheese is scheduled to join Wolford on the 3:30 show beginning Aug. 27. She will also continue reporting on the city she loves in other Action News programs.
KTNV-TV Channel 13 is owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
