DA rules on three officer-involved deaths
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson released rulings on three fatal officer-involved shootings on Monday.
In all three cases, the DA ruled that police acted lawfully.
The first case ruled on was the death of Marc Hull, who fired at police during an attempted robbery on September 9, 2011 inside a Walmart.
The second case was the death of Bernard Pate, who police say aimed a gun at officers in the Karen Pines Apartment complex on November 21, 2011.
The third case ruled on was the death of Jason Baires, who was fatally shot by police after firing at officers on February 1 of this year.
DA Wolfson pointed out that in all three cases, evidence shows the suspects were armed and threatening police.
“In these incidents, the police officers were dealing with armed and dangerous suspects,” Wolfson said. “The Baires and Hull cases are especially noteworthy because the suspects fired at and wounded police officers. These confrontations had tragic and deadly endings, but the officers had to take the actions they did to protect themselves, their fellow officers and the public.”
