Police: Men attempt brazen robbery at Bellagio
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police arrested one man and are searching for at least one other after a brazen robbery at the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip over the weekend.
Authorities say 24-year-old Michael Belton and another man, both from California, pepper sprayed a dealer at the Bellagio and stole thousands of dollars worth of chips on Saturday night.
Casino employees were able to tackle Belton and get the chips back, but the other robber was able to escape.
According to a statement by Belton, the two men came to Las Vegas from California and planned out the heist. They plotted to enter the casino in disguises, commit the robbery, then flee back to the Strip and remove their disguises to blend in with the tourists.
Police said the men had checked into a room at Mandalay Bay, but never entered. Authorities are currently searching for a man named Carlos Rodriguez of North Hollywood as their second suspect.
